Nassau County Jail Roster

The Nassau County, Florida Jail Roster is a public resource that allows you to find out who is currently in custody at the county jail. On the NassauFLCourt.us website, you can find publicly available information about current and recently released inmates. Additional data is available through the official website of the Nassau County Sheriff, by phone, or during a personal visit to the facility. The roster is maintained by the Nassau County Sheriff's Office; it is regularly updated and posted on the sheriff's portal, ensuring transparency of the criminal justice system for county residents.

Search Current Inmates in Nassau Jail

To find a person currently in custody, use one of the three methods below.

Online Search

  1. Go to NassauFLCourt.us — here you can find public information about court cases and records related to county inmates.
  2. Open the official roster on the Nassau County Sheriff's Office website. The roster is usually presented as a list that can be viewed or filtered by last name.
  3. If there is no separate search field on the page, use the browser's "Find on page" function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) and enter the last name.

You will need:

  • The person's full legal name (last name and first name in Latin script)
  • Booking number, if known

Records of juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

By Phone

Call the jail and provide the full name of the person you are looking for. The operator will be able to confirm whether this person is in custody.

Personal Visit

Visit the jail lobby during business hours. At the public information window, staff will help verify the inmate's status. It is recommended to confirm visiting hours by phone before your visit, as they may change.

If the person has already been transferred to the state system, use the Florida Department of Corrections inmate search. Court information on county cases can be checked through the Nassau page on the Florida Courts portal.

Find Nassau Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment when a detained person is officially processed into the jail. It is not a sentence — it is an administrative document about being taken into custody.

What is recorded during booking:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of intake
  • Charges presented
  • Agency that made the arrest (sheriff, city police, state patrol)
  • Mugshot and basic biographical data

Most of this information is available through the sheriff's online roster. If the record has already disappeared from the roster — for example, after release — you can submit a public records request directly to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office. According to the Florida Public Records Law (Chapter 119, Florida Statutes), such documents are generally open, except for information protected by specific regulations.

Search the Nassau Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two main search methods.

By Last Name

Enter the last name in the search field or use Ctrl+F on the roster page. A few tips:

  • Check the spelling — even one incorrect letter will exclude the desired result.
  • Try entering only the first few letters of the last name if the system allows partial search.
  • Add the first name to narrow the list when the last name is common.

By Booking Number

The booking number is the most accurate identifier. It is usually provided at the time of arrest or listed in court documents. Enter it in the appropriate field — the system will show the specific record without unnecessary matches.

If the Search Yields No Results

  1. Ensure the name is spelled correctly and matches the person's legal name (not a nickname or abbreviation).
  2. Wait a few hours — new records do not appear immediately.
  3. Call the jail at (904) 225-5174 to verify the status.
  4. If the person may have been transferred to a state facility, check the Florida Department of Corrections database.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Nassau

The roster is updated throughout the business day, but it does not happen instantly. Between the actual booking and the appearance of the record on the site, it may take from a few minutes to several hours — depending on staff workload and time of day.

What to consider:

  • After an inmate is released, their record disappears from the current roster. The roster only reflects those currently in custody — it is not an archive of all past arrests.
  • Data entry delays occur, especially on weekends and holidays.
  • Technical failures on the site or scheduled maintenance may temporarily limit access.

If you need information about past bookings, submit a written public records request to the sheriff's office. To check court cases, use NassauFLCourt.us or contact the Nassau County Court directly.
